Here we are almost three quarters of the way through our 2023 year and we have experienced some great golf, but there is much more to come. This past Thursday August 17th we held our 5th tournament of the year. Our popular 4 clubs is all you get and we had 44 participants. This has always been a favorite and everyone I talked to agreed that this year didn’t disappoint. We had four flights and we paid out four places. Congratulations to all 16 winners. Our next tournament is this next Sunday August 27th and is our “Mixed Couples Scramble” . There is still some time left to sign up, but time is running out. You can either sign up as a couple or as a foursome. Sign ups are located on the bulletin board or you can call the golf shop. This tournament is designed as a mixer for us to get to know our members and spouses better and have a fun evening. Check-in will be 12:30 with a shotgun start at 1:00 pm. This is a scramble with a requirement of only 2 drives per player. Bob Russell and crew have a great Asian themed buffet including dessert planned for us on the patio following play and he also has a band scheduled for that evening, “The Pine Top Boogie Band”. The price is $40 per person which includes golf, sweeps, dinner and the availability to enjoy music after dinner. This will be a great evening of fun! Thanks Blake Campbell for all your work!

As I mentioned earlier we still have a lot of golf to play. Our next tournament will be Thursday 9/14 and is our new for this year “Ryder Cup” format. Look for sign ups to go out on golf genius sometime the week of August 28th. Once we have all of the sign-ups in we will select the two (2) lowest handicaps and designate them as captains. We will then meet with the captains and have each pick teams from the remaining list of contestants. The format will be similar to the actual Ryder Cup and consist of 3 different formats one the 18 holes. Every 6 holes will be a different format. This will be our first Ryder Cup format for our Men’s Club and looks to be a great time!  This is not all, next we will have our “Fall Classic” which again has been a favorite format where we only take the best 36 net scores from the team of 4 players. This Tournament will be Thursday 10/5. Look for sign ups to come out in late September. Finally, our last Tournament of the season will be “Men’s International Invitational Classic Championship” or MIICC for short. This will be played on Sunday October 19th and will be the finale to our 2023 season. Thanks again to Keven Andel, our Tournament Chairman for a great line up this year.

A couple of other items to note from our Board: First, we have a new website for you to help keep track of events and follow along during the year activities of our club. The site is swccmensclub.org. Thanks to Alan Court for all of his work on this impressive site. Second, if you have not already received a special Bag Tag, we have them available for all of our veteran Club members who have been with our Club for 10 years or more. We distributed them to members who played in our last Tournament and will again have them available on Sunday 8/27. Thanks to Mike Hurst, our membership Chairman for getting this done for our Club.

As you can see, we have had a great year and have much more to come. I look forward to seeing you on the course!
